Rogelio and Julio Juan
Agua Mágica is made in San Juan del Río, Oaxaca, by Don Rogelio Juan and his son, Julio.
Rogelio is a fifth-generation maestro mezcalero and a co-owner of Agua Mágica. His work is behind Ensamble, our sipping expression made from Espadín and Tobalá agaves.
Julio carries that family practice into a sixth generation. He makes Espadín Capón from mature Espadín agaves harvested with the capón method, bottling the mezcal at 45% ABV.
The two expressions offer different ways to approach their work. Ensamble is a 40% ABV mezcal for sipping, with fruit, herbal and nutty notes. Espadín Capón brings a higher proof and a distinct aromatic profile to the glass: fermented pineapple and citrus on the nose, followed by lime peel and eucalyptus on the palate.
We hope you enjoy our family’s mezcal.
